An Enquiry into Recession: call center chapter

leave a comment »

I lost my job, no this time its a callcenter job not the same chauffeur job at cheap limo hire company and I was cursing myself for not having known that before hand- I should have sensed it at least from my years of experience. But as things would have it some 2 months down the line I get a call from my colleague who thoroughly alarmed hollered into the phone that 200 of us were laid off. Imagine 200 people just being handed over the pink slip and asked to leave when they come to work on a Monday. Where would they go and even worse what would they do? Mind you I’m not referring to the college degree holding web development fellow and engineers from MNRC types. ( those who listened to their parents and did their classic education still find jobs, lol, I am referring to ppl like me working for limo hire london)

I’m talking in the context of the ITES sector: the one that encompasses BPOs and call centers and KPOs. The problem for these people is all the more acute for the following reasons:

  1. The people working in call centers know English enough only to take calls. They can sell over the phone and provide customer service in passable English but can not on an average write a single correct paragraph in the language. They don’t have to because it was not necessary for them to get the jobs. Neither does the environment train and equips themselves with skills that can be of any use in a non call center environment. They teach you about Excel sheet but not about driving a limo bus .They know all about the Voice over internet protocol and Routing calls and predictive dialer but what use are these skills sets in a Non call center environment. I’ve spoken to a whole team that knows nothing else than this- where will they find a job now?
  2. The people working in call centers have for quite some time now gotten used to the kind of salaries that other industries would not think of paying for the same skill sets. Imagine taking 20k for attending calls- that’s more than what a receptionist can earn. I’ve seen fellows take out dates in wedding limo style vehicles with their first salaries to pubs. They were paid these obscene amounts because the client still found it feasible. Now having spoilt their husbandry with that kind of income they can’t simply work for more realistic figures- even if they do manage to get the jobs. Someone earning 20k for the last 3 years simply cant cut down to earning 7k on a conventional job.
  3. The other most important aspect of their un- suitability for other conventional jobs is their culture. To begin with there has always been a divide between the conventional sectors and the new style of BPO operations- in a BPO environment your certain of the month end pay package and so when you don’t see it happen you can actually create quite a scene. In a conventional environment like my last job of working in surrey limo patience is the only way out. One needs to value the job enough to keep quite and let things happen. In a BPO environment, thanks to the Americans, things happen real fast. There are ‘turn around’ times in hours- can you imagine that from conventional sectors like mDeals. So someone used to that definitely feels cheated and can’t stick around for a long time in a non BPO set up.

The friends that I have known found it extremely difficult to stick beyond 2 months after leaving their BPOs in a conventional environment. They tried their hands all over from limo hire companies to software solutions. Their outspoken – in your face attitude which was encouraged in the call center set up was frowned up in the conventional offices.

Who does he think he is? Used to be the common question asked.

Personally I have branched out- closed my call center chapter for good because I have the skills that I can peddle some place else. Some with solid college degrees went back to academics and the rest went back to doing what they were doing before albeit with a little less remuneration attached to it. But I pity the large majority that simply doesn’t have anything else to peddle. The max they can do is selling mobile coupons.

When call centers picked up youngsters from the streets- who mouthed America English thanks to the Hollywood flicks- they just paid them 20k and made them take calls after a lil brush up with soft skills. They did not see it fit to train them with any other skills even like just driving a limo berkshire.

Now in such trying times with a pink slip in hand, where does that fake American accent mouthing youngster, with no university degree, hailing from Patel Nagar not the one in Middlesex find himself.?

Nowhere or maybe in the local ‘thekka’

Is left really in the race?

leave a comment »

Even as our politicians fight it out for the most coveted seat in India, a question haunts me: can communism actually be a form of government in India?

If it can’t, why then should the left be in the limo hire race in the first place. Like sports why don’t they just give the others a walk over. Now don’t take umbrage, because I’m myself a staunch supporter of the left ideals and at one point of time in college vehemently advocated communism- much before I could sober down and apply myself to mDeals and a much mundane existence.

The closest that India came to having a communist government was when Charu Majumdar, called for a total communist revolution, back in the 70s. I still hero worship that man- our very own answer to flamboyant idealistic revolution. Indian ‘che’ if I could romantically dub it that.

Unlike now, when the differences are slowly being smoothened out (the process will take a lot of time though to finally impact but still) it was a time when the rift between the haves and the have-nots was very prominent like london limo. The society was organized on class lines, on caste lines and the rich were getting richer while the poor were becoming poorer, to use a cliché. ( this was long long before,  surrey limo cars and the internet could come into being)

I’ve been told that in parts of Orissa and Bengal, poverty was rampant and whatever the government did, it simply didn’t reach the ones that desperately needed the change. Unemployed, with no means of sustenance and discriminated against, the poor had a champion in Charu Majumdar and his party and trust me they were without any cheap limo cars. They rallied under him and very soon the word “Naxal’ had gained a popularity of it own. Almost every youngster in Presidency college Calcutta with a little leaning to the political thought felt it right to throw in their lot with the left. The same was in Kerala too- and in all other parts where the poor allowed these people to change their lives with their ideas. In 1967 if I’m not mistaken a peasant uprising took place in Naxalbari, led by Kanu Sanyal and Charu Majumdar and  so formally the Naxalites were born. It was the first popular uprising that made the government of India take note of the serious implication of the whole affair. And right away they had decided that they will not allow it to happen no matter how many limo berkshire trips they gotta give up. In Assam as a child I have heard horrible stories of police crack down- of young students being tortured to death and the river flowing with blood. In fact almost every house it is said had lost their educated ones: in the form of a son or a brother or a husband.

Now when I see AB Bardhan, and Sitaram Yechuri, all this seems so far- far away. I cannot imagine Prakash Karat or his party workers capable of such a selfless commitment as displayed by people like Kanu Sanyal or Charu, can they let go off their limo bus. I am forced to see the current crop of leftist as people who will stall foreign investment, block a project like Singur, indulge in trade unionism etc etc. I’ve hardly heard stories of their work with the poor. Are there no more poor left in the far flung reaches of India or has it become unfashionable for the left to take up their cause now?  Left politics now is only fashionable in places like JNU, in gatherings where people talk about changes- revolutionary changes and equal opportunities for all. Only nothing seems to come of it. In recent times I don’t recollect one single left gathering that rallied selflessly to any cause. There is always infighting and confusion. What is the left agenda now?..and is it relevant actually?

Does the left faction actually have something to offer other than protests? As long as there are people there will be differences, there are people going around in a Middlesex limo and there are those that can’t afford a cycle. Social welfare is not about snatching away a car from the rich because the poor doesn’t have it- it should be more than that I suppose. Merely maintaining a low profile and preaching mediocrity should not be the only left goal. I personally would love to see a left government given full power- only that won’t happen. (Except in Kerala and maybe Bengal) Because then we might be able to see the extent to which they can bring about change. Pity though the left always bungles the opportunity that comes their way in the last moment. I would like to see what the left does if given power apart from driving in their own personal limos: will it be true to the ideals of martyrs like Charu Majumdar or will it satisfy itself with just making some noise at the national level.

Maybe this election will put my doubts to rest. For the moment my web development calls and its much more pressing than who comes to power- after all I still will have to go to the same job and ride the same Metro. That’s why I and many like me are so far away from people like Charu Majumdar and sadly but truly away from limo hampshire as well :) .

Long live revolution!

The Sri Lankan affair

leave a comment »

I am a Tamil and an Indian- don’t know which comes first though. Candidly speaking for an ordinary middle class Indian who goes to work every day and comes back home by a DTC bus and not in a cheap limo hire,  dog tired it doesn’t matter one bit. We are all children of the same confusion- Assamese and Indian at the same time, Oriya and Indian at the same time- and so on and so forth.

Ad : valentine greeting cards

Yet why should I be considered lesser Tamil if I think we should keep away from the Lankan trouble.

The Srilankan government’s decision to wipe out LTTE once and for all does not deserve  a party in a limo bus, with no regard to their cause is of course deplorable- violence does not settle things, especially when it involves a race. A violent end will only see the beginning of yet another violent chapter sometime from now- a young boy picking up arms years from now to avenge his fathers death. When you talk of a race, it is bound to produce at least one such boy- if not now maybe 10 years from now. It is inevitability and a sad fact far away from the dreams of limo surrey beauty landscaping. But that does not give a reason for our Tamils to support the LTTE’s terrorism either. Granted that they are people of our stock and therefore need help in the form of food and shelter when displaced but it should stop at that.

In the first place it’s even more complex than whats inside our london limo hireor nuclear science and cannot be solved like a project as it involves human lives and identity.

Ad : gifts to Delhi

Second: It is not our problem and should not be our problem – if we make that mistake we will be infringing on the sovereignty of a neighbor which is not right no matter how big yourcheap limos are.

Last but not the least, one must not forget that the LTTE has adopted violent means for quite some time now and in some pockets are viewed as a terrorists. The Lankan government’s decision for a truce was often rebuffed by the tigers; on more than one occasion they have broken the peace agreement; in many of their attacks civilians have been killed and maimed; they have also gone to the extent of grafting under age volunteers for the squads. In this light their ways are as far from peaceful as ahampshire limo is from poverty stricken Somalia.

Strangely despite these attending facts, politics in Tamil Nadu seems to be radicalized on the LTTE issue- if you don’t support the Tamil cause your lesser Tamil, and if you do your lesser nationalistic. Phew! How simple can these politicians make things? Many are actually trying to make the LTTE cause their raison de etre- using the LTTE’s name liberally in rallies and election rhetoric while they all will be booking their own berkshire limo post elections. Political mileage in its most blatant and shameless form! None of them are willing to understand the ramifications of an LTTE presence in Tamil Nadu and the gun culture that they once brought in, in the 80s. Have they forgotten the Pondy Bazar shoot out?…or the infighting that often spilled over into the coastal reaches of Tamil Nadu..have they forgotten Sri Sabarathinam’s killing, the lamppost killings and names like Kittu pasted on our memories just like the beautiful limo?

Ad : diwali gifts to India

This is not an attempt to vilify them as much as it is an attempt to expose the farce that local Tamil politicians are playing now?

By supporting the LTTE’s cause we don’t do anything for ourselves not do we do anything for the misplaced Tamils. They live in refugee camps and are no better than our own poor. While the rich ones with the correct connection end up in Canada, I’v personally know more than half a dozen militants who migrated to Canada and lead a cozy life- some of them own businesses and go around in middlesex limos, while the majority languishes in refugee camps.

Salute to limo bus driver of Sri Lankan team in Pakistan

with 2 comments

No cheap limo hire will do today, I am not looking for any sponsors here, I am just here to salute martyrs of Pakistan police force who laid down their lives so they could save face of Pakis and so Sri lankan cricketers could return home safely.

Another hero who emerged out is their limo bus driver who drove them safely back to the stadium and the team escaped with minor injuries, injuries may be are minor but the impact would be a lasting one, not just on the players and the country but the whole cricketing world and sporting people and fans world over.

It doesnt matter what they wanted to achieve by doing this heinous crime, they just have made sure that the whole world would now unite again in this time of crisis to see that the heroes are given a rousing welcome in their london limos and the love be spread world over with the debacle of these ppl with time and our constant effort to outlast them.

England has been really nice to Paki cricket by rolling out their limo surrey in this hour of crisis by offering them to use the venues in towns of limo middlesex and other counties to be used as neutral venue for their cricket.

Sports has always been a means to show peace and love in times of adversities and bring people together and am sure all of us will come around together much stronger to bear this burden and outclass them in every sphere of our peach march from islamabad to colombo to limo berkshire.

I would love to invite all heroes for a limo hire london trip at a cost beared by all of us and praise them forever in heaven.

God bless us all!

Cheers

Amit.

Negative Emotional Stock Piling

leave a comment »

Humans by nature are stock pilers. They stock up everything, money, clothes, electronic gadgets, Royal Ascot Limos and NEGATIVE EMOTIONS. To feel emotional is normal – it’s human! Feelings cannot be right or wrong just as emotions can’t.

Today’s lifestyle is an accumulation of stress. Work related stress, relationship related stress so on and so fort. Walk into any office and you can cut the negative emotions with a knife. Riding in your cheap limo hire you’re irritated at the cars moving slowly ahead of you – a common example of Road rage, impatience in the ATM queue are all results of negative emotions. But they lead to only thing “unhappiness”.

More often than not people tend to forget their happy experiences but a negative or a hurtful experiences is imprinted on their brains for ever like the tracks left behind by a London limo hire! It’s like they’re branded for life. This governs their future behaviour. This is what I call NEGATIVE EMOTIONAL STOCKPILING. Freud and a lot of other psychoanalysts believe that the root of negative emotional behaviour lay buried in our past unhappy experiences. That’s crap. We don’t have to delve into the history of a Surrey limo hire to have a happy limo ride. Past is important, past can be interesting but past is not important.

The past experiences that cause negative emotions aren’t buried in some untouchable unconscious place that can be accessed only after lying on the therapy couch for 20 years. They are everyday things that you talk to yourself.

When you don’t let go of certain negative emotions…you tend to stock pile them. Sometimes you end up with 20 or 30 or maybe even 50 years of unpleasant memories, guilty feelings, embarrassing moments…in short a lot of useless emotional baggage as heavy as Berkshire limos. This colors our everyday behaviour. Sometimes we react strongly to something based on our past experience and we end up hurting our friends or alienating ourselves and take a lonely ride back home in the Hampshire limo hire. And the worst part is noone understands why we reacted so strongly in the first place!

Get rid of your negative emotions now! Easier said than done! But it’s a choice you make. When you start getting agitated about something or you feel like the whole world is pointing fingers at you…shout STOP to your brain like pulling the breaks on the Middlesex limo hire. Tell yourself “I choose to be happy”. You cant let these bad experiences haunt you forever.  This does not mean that you suppress your feelings or try to hide them. You need to accept them as part of your life and then move on. Your past teaches you “what you should not do”.

The first step to clearing out our negative emotional clutter is to take it easy. Nothing great has been achieved in a day. It takes a second to get hurt and years to have the pain go away.

But nothing is impossible. Slowly you’ll be able to let go and you’ll be more receptive to positive emotions without judging anyone’s ulterior motives. You’ll start taking things as they come. You won’t even realize and your stockpile of negative emotions will soon start draining out and you’ll be a happier and a lighter person and you’ll be zipping around in your hampshire limousine a changed person!

Biggest flip flop of the year 2008

with 4 comments

Well what can I say, just read a news item and I would say all limo cars and limo party bus for President Zardari should be brought to halt considering his statement, that he is saying India should close all terror cells, I am sure he must be drinking champagne in his limo london trip when he said that and I wonder whether he even knows what he means and what he says !

Ad : gifts to gurgaon

Benazir Bhutto must be devastated to look at this state of Pakistan, and I really pray to god that her soul may rest in peace without caring too much about these things, she definitely deserves limo hire trips across the heaven for her amazingly great work for the service of highly confused nation. I really want to believe how India & Pakistan could have been superpower then anybody else had they been together without lamenting each other, wish Brits had not done this division and could ve taken the surrey limo ride back home from india without such short thinking.

However now we stand divided and blaming each other with no solution possible, and trust me and history that war is no solution, its just loss of invaluable lives for the cause of some unconclusive minds, tribute and limo hire trips to heaven for such martyrs but a very sad and distraught end to such thoughts, well I wonder if they will end, I wish if someone could do that and I will make sure he gets the berkshire limo hire and all limo bus trips free of cost for the whole team who can pull this off.

I bet we all know world is a much better place with a simple thought of LIVE & Let LIVE :) and god bless to all limo hire people who made such great cars that we can actually dedicate them whether as limo london trips or even limo berkshire trips to show our gratitude towards them.

Cheers

US Car bailout … thank God

with 4 comments

Well either thank god or thank US govt, as it seems car industry may just get to weather these tough times, and give some life to all limo hire companies around the world which depends upon these car companies for new limo party bus and cars to lure new customers and with Christmas around the corner, this may not have come at a better time for the industry.

I spoke to my limo london clients, and everyone felt that since this recession has started, their sales have dipped largely in all the sectors whether its limo party bus for a huge city like middlesex limo hire, times are bad and ppl do not want to shell out any money and stay tight in there expenses for some more time to come, however they do claim business in berkshire limo sector has been exciting and they are seeing things moving positively in the limo london sector as well.

Clients also tell that almost every customer wants a good deals for their travel to surrey limo hire and by good i mean we are talking about discounts to the tune of 30-40% on the price, which is impossible.

I hope these good news and probably in surge of obama’s popularity get things moving and our surrey limo sector and limo party bus starts to generate more revenue.

Cheers

wow … new wordpress design … dude you deserve limo london for this

with 2 comments

wow is what came out of me :) when I logged in this morning and saw the great pleasant change in new wordpress dashboard design, its different its faster and its mean hehe just like my limo party bus , Matt dude you are the man and I would say time for you to get off from your machine and hit the road with a trip to london limo hire. Your web design is just so amazing , I just love it I was actually thinking of creating a plugin for mobile access for wordpress dashboard, so a user using his wireless application can post new posts to the wordpress blog , just like I always want to do, makes the job so easier so whether you are travelling on limo staines or twickenham limo, you can just experience it and post it to your wordpress your realtime feelings , sounds so much better isnt it, am actually yet to dig through to look for this plugin and if it exists I bet am onto my limo party bus for few days to create an sms solution in asp.net development and use it for my limo hire website.

Acutally a good idea also can be a wap plugin for wordpress where in even without wap you can push a post via sms solution directly to your blog, so you are always connected whether you are in limo richmond or anywhere else, you are just an sms away from your blog update.

hehe too much of new ideas and hats off to Matt he is the one who has got me excited about this, and dude I would recommend all limo hire companies out there, to come out and give you a berkshire limo or surrey limo or hampshire limo trip free of cost anywhere anytime when you wish it to be and if you wish well you are most invited on my limo party bus, as that is all I have.

Cheers

Luxury in church … what next a limo trip to church say luxury limo church ride

with 3 comments

haha … you may find it weird till you read this news post, and I bet it will blow your mind as it did for me… I guess the next thing on the cards is limo hire business marketing church trips by limousine , and why not if we can go to parties, conferences we should actually pay a visit to god whether by its london limo hire or berkshire limo or hampshire limo, the point is to pay the visit in your best possible manner.

The interesting thought here is not limo cars, but the fact that churches are getting into luxury mode to attract people which is quite a positive move, because I believe whether its a church website or say a church comes up with a wireless application to stay in touch with its members, its all about communication. So whether we are talking about cheap limo hire trips to our local church  or creating html websites to share and communicate with our members, its all very positive to me.

So guys its time for church administrators to get the web design done for their churches and may be even an sms solution to keep its members involved and they can also offer a limo hire trip to few of its members weekly basis for their good deeds, I bet it makes community more stronger and together and wap websites or limo cars orlimo party bus outings are just a great way to bring the whole community together in this ever growing world of virtual social networking times.
